A Tribute to Kirsten Toksvig
Kirsten Toksvig was a cherished GIM colleague in Copenhagen, Denmark. She passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the age of 60. She leaves behind two grown daughters.
Kirsten was in our first international GIM training group and has been a Fellow for a number of years. She often hosted our group at her home in Copenhagen for supervisions and consultations. As she opened her home to us, she also opened her heart to us. She single handedly developed the Danish GIM website. If you have not seen it, I recommend that you access it at gimterapi.dk.
The beauty of that site and the obvious love that she put into its creation is a tribute to her love of music, her excellent musicianship, her dedication to GIM and, most of all, to the beauty of her spirit.

After 20 years as a music teacher, Kirsten studied expressive arts therapy specifically to qualify for GIM training and made a career change to become a therapist. Kirsten was a support trainer in the Danish GIM training program and a teacher in the Swedish expressive arts therapy program. She was also the GIM therapist for many GIM trainees in Denmark and Sweden. She was active in her private practice and very involved in other projects until the end.
I think she was loved by everyone who new her. The loss of Kirsten is a great loss for her family, her friends and GIM. She will be sorely missed.
